With new GX550s still hard to get, a lot of buyers are eyeing the used market. Here's what pre-owned units are actually selling for in Canada right now, based on current listings across AutoTrader, Kijiji Autos, and private sales.

Low to mid mileage units. Premium+ and Overtrail trims command the top of this range.
Most listed units are lightly used lease returns or early owner sales. Prices remain well above MSRP.
Essentially new units from sellers who received an allocation and are flipping. Pricing reflects full scarcity premium.
Used GX550 vs. waiting for a new one
Buying used right now means paying $10K–$25K over MSRP for someone else's car with a partial warranty. A new 2026 allocation through Alloc8r runs a flat $5,000 fee and typically delivers in a few weeks to a couple of months. For most buyers, the new car route is the smarter financial decision.

The GX550 allocation system matches cars to buyers, not the other way around. Tell your dealer you'll take any colour in your trim. Buyers who hold out for specific colours wait significantly longer.
Dealers prioritize buyers who are clearly ready to close. Coming in with a financing pre-approval or demonstrating you can pay cash puts you ahead of speculative depositors.
Toronto dealers are often quoting shorter waits than Vancouver, and have no lease-only restriction. If you're in Montreal especially, looking at Ontario dealers can shave months off your timeline.
This isn't advice we love giving, but it's the reality. Dealers don't make much on a car sold at MSRP with no add-ons and no trade-in, meaning you get placed at the very back of the list. Agreeing to one or two modest add-ons signals you're a real buyer and moves you forward.
If you find an allocation elsewhere, close on the new vehicle first. Only cancel your original deposit after keys are in hand. This protects you completely with no risk and no gap.
